A raised viewing deck
Level with the house, with a balustrade that keeps the view open.
Whickham
High up on the hill, many Whickham gardens fall away from the house towards the view. A deck turns that slope into level space you can actually use.
The gardens here
Whickham's homes, from older village properties to the estates around it, often have gardens that drop noticeably from the house, sometimes with a retaining wall or terraces already in place.
The upside is the view. A raised deck in the right place lets you sit out and enjoy it.
What we design
Level with the house, with a balustrade that keeps the view open.
Two or three decks stepping down, each with its own purpose.
Broad, shallow steps that double as extra places to sit.
Before we draw
Raised decks need balustrades and sound footings. We design both properly and flag where planning applies.
We check retaining walls before building near them.
Questions
Decks more than 30cm above the ground usually do. We'll tell you at the design visit and can prepare drawings if it's needed.
On a steep slope, several levels usually look better and need less height. We'll draw both if it helps you decide.
