FAQ
Questions about your deck
Questions
Before you ask
What happens on a design visit?
We measure, take levels, look at sun, shade, drainage and access, and talk about how you'll use the space. Then we draw the deck.
Timber or composite?
Timber feels natural and classic but needs regular care. Composite needs very little. We'll recommend what genuinely suits your garden.
How is a deck priced?
Every deck is priced for its design, after the design visit. See what you're paying for to understand what goes into every build.
Do I need planning permission?
Usually not for a garden deck no more than 30cm high that, with other extensions and outbuildings, covers no more than half the garden. Raised decks, flats and listed homes are different. We'll flag it at the design visit.
How long does a build take?
Most decks take a few days to a week once work starts. Larger or more detailed decks take longer; your quote will say.
Can you add lighting later?
It's possible, but much neater to plan it in from the start so cables hide in the frame.
Something else on your mind?
Add it to your design visit request and we'll talk it through.
